Automatic alerts

Absence alerts that reach parents the moment a child is marked

After several cases of children left in vehicles, KPWKM stated in November 2023 that taska and kindergarten operators must contact parents when a child does not arrive as usual. On a busy morning, that is exactly the step that slips.

SleekJunior alerts parents as soon as a teacher marks a child absent — nobody has to remember to type a message.

Dear Mr Kumar, we want to inform you that Arjun was marked Absent…

Immediately after marking

An absent or late status alerts that child's guardians only — not a message to the whole class group.

The school sets the rules

Choose which events go out: absent, late, check-in, check-out. Set them school-wide or per class.

Repeated-absence warnings

Set a monthly limit — administrators are alerted when a child passes it, so patterns don't go unnoticed.

The rule: contact parents when a child is absent

KPWKM's guidelines ask taska and kindergartens to contact parents promptly when a child does not attend as usual, and ask parents to notify the centre of absence or lateness. The aim is simple: no child goes "missing" between home and the centre without someone noticing.

Automatic alerts handle the first step — parents are told at the same moment the teacher marks attendance. They do not replace a phone call: if parents don't respond, the centre should still call them or the emergency contact on record.

Notification channels

Alerts go by email and into the parent app. Parents who install the school portal on their phone and allow notifications receive them like any other app notification.

  • Email to the child's guardians
  • Notification in the parent portal
  • Phone notification (where the parent allows it)

How it works

An administrator turns on absence alerts in the attendance settings.

Teachers mark attendance in the morning.

Guardians of an absent child are alerted immediately.

If there is no response, the centre follows up by phone.

Frequently asked questions

Automatic alerts help a centre tell parents quickly, but compliance is the operator's responsibility. We recommend a follow-up call when parents do not respond. Check the latest JKM/KPWKM guidelines for the full requirements.

The guardians linked to that child's parent account. Other parents in the class receive nothing.

Yes. Notification settings are school-wide with per-class overrides.
